Michael Aaron Dreyer

Michael Aaron Dreyer is the founder and creator of Beacon of Light Music, as well as a songwriter, lyricist, and author whose creative work is rooted in the Word of God, prayer, poetry, personal experience, and testimony.

Michael has been writing poetry and experimenting with lyrics and music since childhood. For much of his life, that creativity remained private. Naturally reserved about performing, he often kept his writing to himself or shared it only with small groups. Although the desire to create music was always present, life ultimately led him into the electrical trade and later into becoming the owner-operator of an electrical contracting business.

Michael's journey has not always been easy. He came from a challenging and broken upbringing and experienced significant loss at a young age, including losing his father and two grandfathers before the age of 11. Those experiences affected him deeply and contributed to struggles with anger and direction during his younger years.

As a young man, Michael began the long process of confronting his past, working on himself, and learning how to move forward. That process of personal and spiritual growth has continued throughout his adult life.

His story is not one of perfection. It is a story of perseverance, growth, accountability, grace, faith, and redemption.

Michael believes that where a person begins does not have to determine where that person finishes. A difficult upbringing, painful experiences, mistakes, and struggles do not have to define the rest of someone's life. Today, he is blessed to be a husband and father, a business owner, and a man striving every day to walk uprightly, put God first, and use his experiences to encourage others and glorify God.

Faith has been an important part of that transformation.

Michael's relationship with God has grown over many years and has included seasons of struggle, questioning, conviction, renewal, and spiritual growth. Over approximately the last decade, his faith has steadily deepened, and today he describes his relationship with God as stronger than it has ever been.

One significant moment in that journey occurred approximately ten years ago while Michael was praying at St. Patrick's Cathedral. As he prayed on bended knee, he felt the warmth of sunlight through a small stained glass window fall upon his face in a way that he experienced as an overwhelming reminder of the Lord's grace and presence. That moment became one of many experiences that helped draw him toward a deeper relationship with God.

In more recent years, Scripture has become an increasingly important part of Michael's daily life. He often finds himself awake in the early morning hours reading the Bible, taking notes, journaling, praying, reflecting, and writing.

During one of those periods of Bible study, Michael experienced another deeply personal moment involving the meaning of his own name.

He came to understand the Hebrew meaning behind Michael as the rhetorical question, "Who? is like God" The answer is no one.

At 44 years old, that understanding became a lesson in humility. Something as personal as his own name became a reminder that no person compares to God and that ultimately all glory belongs to Him.

That realization coincided with an extraordinary period of creativity.

Around the same time, Michael had recently begun experimenting with artificial intelligence and modern music-production tools while creating a jingle for his electrical contracting business. He decided to take one of the poems he had written and preserved over the years and explore what it might become when transformed into music.

That experiment opened an unexpected creative door.

Michael began digging through years of poems, notebooks, personal experiences, Scripture, prayers, memories, and ideas. Within a remarkably short period of time, he had developed six complete songs along with accompanying works of art.

Those early creations helped give birth to Beacon of Light Music.

Today, Michael's creative process begins with the human experiences and spiritual foundations that have shaped his life: Scripture, prayer, original poetry and lyrics, testimony, family, struggles, victories, repentance, gratitude, reflection, and everyday moments of inspiration.

Some songs begin with poems written many years ago. Others begin while reading the Bible, sitting in church, or praying. Inspiration can come from a difficult day, a moment of frustration, a memory, a conversation, a personal victory, a struggle, or simply a thought that will not leave him alone.

For Michael, a single spark of inspiration can become a poem, and a poem can become a song.

He uses modern AI-assisted creative and production tools to help transform his original writing, concepts, biblical themes, imagery, and creative direction into musical and visual works. The technology provides new ways to bring ideas to life, but the heart of the work remains rooted in Michael's writing, experiences, faith, and the message he is seeking to communicate.

His musical influences are equally diverse.

Michael particularly enjoys deep house, jazz house, and tropical house music, but his musical taste has always been eclectic. Traveling throughout the world has exposed him to different cultures, rhythms, sounds, and musical traditions that have helped shape the way he hears and imagines music.

For years, he wanted to explore music more seriously, whether through songwriting, DJing, or another creative avenue, but the responsibilities of building a career, a business, and a family left little room to pursue it.

Today, he sees that desire through a different lens. Michael describes this season of his life as one in which God often wakes him before his alarm, sometimes in the earliest hours of the morning, with the desire and energy to read Scripture, pray, journal, write, and create.

What was once simply a desire to make music has developed into a desire to make music for the glory of God.

The biblical foundation of Beacon of Light Music is central to that purpose.

Michael began much of his Bible reading with the King James Version. Although he appreciates its language and beauty, he sometimes found it difficult to fully comprehend. More recently, he began reading the New Living Translation and found that it allowed him to better understand and absorb what he was reading. He still appreciates the King James Version and intends to continue studying it, but his priority is understanding the Word so that he can apply it to his life.

For Michael, the goal is not simply to read the Bible. It is to understand it, live it, grow through it, and remain rooted in it. That same principle is at the heart of Beacon of Light Music.

Beacon of Light Music shares music rooted in the Word of God to encourage faith, strengthen believers, light the way to Christ our Lord and Savior, and keep our hearts and minds focused on Jesus Christ.

The songs reflect real experiences of life and faith: struggle, worship, repentance, gratitude, spiritual warfare, obedience, perseverance, loss, hope, renewal, and the faithfulness of God.

Michael hopes the music can meet people wherever they are and provide encouragement, motivation, reflection, peace, or simply a reminder that they can turn their hearts and minds toward Christ.

Michael is blessed to be happily married and the father of one daughter. His faith, family, work, life experiences, travels, struggles, victories, good times, difficult seasons, and the Word of God all continue to influence his writing.

His past is part of his testimony, but it does not define his future.

Michael hopes his journey can serve as a reminder that someone can come from difficult circumstances, experience loss and hardship, make mistakes, struggle along the way, and still grow into a devoted husband, father, business owner, creator, and man seeking to serve God's kingdom.

Through the pressures and experiences of life, Michael believes God has been preparing him for this season.

The poetry that once stayed in notebooks is becoming music.

The experiences that once brought pain are becoming testimony.

And the creativity that once remained largely private is now something Michael feels called to share.

Beacon of Light Music is an expression of that journey—a growing collection of music, Scripture, poetry, imagery, and testimony created with one purpose above all others:
